Introduction to the Disclosure service

Please read the information contained in this document carefully before contacting us in connection with our ‘umbrella body’ service: we have sought to provide comprehensive information about our service and the necessary procedures here.

Please help us to maintain this service by only contacting us for advice where this document has not addressed the issue – otherwise we may find that, due to the volume of enquiries we receive we are not able to maintain this service.

If you have a genuine query that isn’t resolved following careful reading of this document then please contact us via e-mail and we will do our best to be of assistance.

Oxford University First Aid Unit (OUFAU) is registered as an “Umbrella Body” with the Criminal Records Bureau, and as such is able to countersign applications for Disclosures on behalf of organisations that are not themselves registered.

A Disclosure is a document detailing sensitive personal information and as such is only available to help an organisation (such as an employer or voluntary organisation) to confirm the suitability of an applicant for working in certain positions. A full list of the categories of positions for which a Disclosure can be issued is available in the CRB’s document DIP 003.

We will only consider processing a Disclosure application in response to a request from an organisation for the issue of a Disclosure, and not from the individual him or herself.
