Terms and conditions for training course bookings

1. Scope
These terms apply to all training courses run by the Oxford University First Aid Unit (hereafter referred to as "OUFAU").

2. Payment
(a) Full payment is due within 28 calendar days of issue of our invoice.
(b) We reserve the right to apply a 10% surcharge in cases of overdue payment.

3. Acceptance of candidates onto courses
(a) It is a condition of acceptance of candidates on First Aid at Work (FAW) courses that they intend to use the skills they gain in a work place.
(b) Candidates wishing to attend an FAW refresher course must, on request, supply us with a copy of a current FAW certificate.  This certificate must be valid for the entire duration of the proposed refresher course.
(c) It is the responsibility of clients to ensure that the candidate(s) for whom they book places are suitable for first aid training.  The HSE has recommended that, when selecting first aiders, employers take into account an individual’s:
· Reliability, disposition, and communication skills.
· Aptitude and ability to absorb new knowledge and learn new skills.
· Ability to cope with stressful and physically demanding procedures.
· Normal duties, which should be such that they may be left to go immediately and rapidly to an emergency.

4. Cancellations and transfers by the client
(a) If a cancellation / transfer is requested eight weeks or more before the start of a course then a 10% administrative charge will be levied.
(b) If a cancellation / transfer is requested between four and eight weeks before the start of a course then a 50% administrative charge will be levied.
(c) If a cancellation / transfer is requested four weeks or less before the start of a course, or if for any reason a candidate does not turn up at the start of the course, then full course fee will be forfeit.

5. Cancellations and transfers by OUFAU
Courses are run subject to minimum numbers of registered candidates, and in extreme circumstances OUFAU may have to cancel a course.  In such a case, the client will be offered an alternative course or a full refund of monies paid.

6. Certificates
Certificates will be sent to candidates who successfully complete the course after the full course fee has been received.

7. Variation of terms and conditions
These terms may only be varied in writing by an authorised officer of OUFAU.
