Sports First Aid (16 hours)
We have been actively seeking to make available a course focussing on the
needs of participants in sport. This two-day programme is designed to
improve the quality of basic first aid provided in the sport and exercise
environment. We hope that this will increase awareness of the importance
of sports first aid among people involved in sport and exercise and it should
meet the needs of, amongst others, referees, coaches, and persons providing
touchline support.
This course will cover the following topics:
- The scope of Sports First Aid
- Legal issues
- Equipment
- Life-saving procedures
- Management of other injuries
- Medical problems and their implications for an athlete
- Environmental problems
- Return to sport following injury
- Assessments
Participants who attend the entire course and complete the assessments
successfully will receive a certificate from Oxford University First Aid Unit
indicating that they have successfully completed a course in Sports First Aid.
We currently have places available as follows:
12-13 April 2008, 9am - 5pm each day
Cost: £175.00 per person
